The mighty oak starts from such humble beginnings. A tiny acorn that we pass by without giving it much thought. But within these small shells, there is much potential. While researching how to manage our land, we’ve learned so much about the benefits of oaks. In addition to being impressive and beautiful trees, they also host an astounding amount of wildlife.
Because we’re eager to start working, we decided to collect acorns and plant them in pots over the winter. We found what we think are white oaks because they germinate in fall, unlike red oaks in spring. It will be a slow process, but we’re excited to see which, if any, take root. We’ll keep you posted.
