Overview
Short but Sweet
County Route 29/4 is nestled right in the middle of western Monongalia County between Morgantown and Blacksville. There’s not a lot going on out this way, so bring food and a full tank of gas. With the long history of timbering and coal mines, there are a lot of trails and public roads that make for short yet still enjoyable roads worth hitting. After passing a few houses on the maintained section of the road, you’ll see a sign for the mining facility going left and a rough road heading off to the right. They both end up at the same spot but you’ll want to keep right for fun’s sake.

The road is still fairly well maintained at this point, at least as far as off-roading goes. You’ll soon come to another split. Our first time here, we thought the public road continued straight but it was simply an issue of the road number key being on top of the split on the map. We continued straight and found some fun spots but it is private property. Unless you have permission to go on that side, be polite and keep left. There were no signs telling people to stay out and I hope the landowner forgives us. When on trails, these mistakes can happen and we try to leave a small footprint any time we are off-roading.
